Christmas Gifts: Hand Made Fabric Cards

Every year I try to make home made cards. First of all because most of the time I can not find cards that actually say "Merry Christmas", second because they can be really expensive!! and Last because it means allot more to people when you make a card for them.

This year I did something a little different. I used about 8 different fabrics to create different designs for the front of the card.

I did this by cutting the fabric into squares, then cutting a piece of fusible interfacing to the size of the card. Then you place the squares in different designs and iron them to the interfacing. Then I sewed in a zig zag stitch the edges of the squares. then I sewed the piece to the card its self on the out side edge.



It was allot of fun to make these ones!! The one above I just took some scraps and did more of a rap quilt look!!

Here is a just a portion of the cards... I had already by this time sent out the ones that needed to mailed. I made about 30 this year!! And what a fun thing to work on while listening to Christmas music!!

Some times you just have to say THANKS!!

When some one does something for you, just to bless you. You (or at least) I find myself unable to say anything but thanks. Even though you think that is not enough to express the deep gratitude you have, it is the best you can do! Which is the reason I have made this card for my dear grandma, who has shown kindness to me!

Card Stash

Cards are always nice to give to people. You can make funny cards, thankful cards and sincere cards. They are a way to show you care about other poeple in your life. With this New Year, there are many reasons to give cards, birhtdays, holidays, get well and so on. So to get my 2011 stash of cards going here are a few I have worked on in my spare time!!

Kensington Hat

My younger sisters Birthday is also in this month, the 28th to be exact. I also wanted to make her something special. As I was thinking of what to knit for her, I remembered when I was down in California visiting her and mom, she wore a beret hat allot. So I thought that I could make her one! I searched many places, and then I found on KnitPicks there was a hat called The Kensington Hat, my sisters name is MaKensie and most often we call her Kensie. I thought that the pattern was cute and the name fit as well. Now this hat was a little challenging, not the knitting part or the lace, but the counting. I had to restart the hat about 3 time until I finally got the right amount of stitches on my needles. Once that happened I was able to finish the hat in a week. I had never done this kind of hat, but I enjoyed knitting it and making a card for my dear little sister!!

I figured out how to make these paper flowers,

they are supper fun to make. Especially when you use

different buttons and paper!
